Project Centre is delighted to announce that Kristina Coxall and Melissa Vento are both finalists in this year’s Women in Construction and Engineering awards for Best Woman Consultant.
As Principal Transport Planner, Melissa has worked in the industry for 11 years, providing services to public and private sector clients including housing developers, commercial businesses and local government. After gaining a degree in Geography, she started her career in planning enforcement. Like many Transport Planners, Melissa developed her interest in town planning and transportation by working in this field. She is committed to continuing professional development, has achieved a PGDip in Transport Planning and is a member of CIHT.
Melissa is an acknowledged expert in the preparation of transport assessments, travel plans, public engagement, and Masterplanning. She also delivers expert development control support for planning authorities, assists in the review of highway proposals and is committed to delivering a positive impact on local communities, towns and cities. She can apply her interchangeable skills and knowledge to a wide range of projects and is particularly committed to sustainability and the development of a range of solutions to help reduce car use. This includes encouraging active travel and the use of public transport and making a positive impact on the local community while ensuring the successful delivery of development plans. Melissa has taken an active role in our Equality, Diversity, Inclusion Group and has been instrumental in driving through improvements and processes. Her organisational skills and focus on delivery have been critical success factors.
Since joining Project Centre five years ago as a Graduate, Senior Consultant Kristina has influenced not only the company, but the industry as a whole. Over the last year she has become a key member leading Tower Hamlets’ ambitious £25million scheme to transform into a more friendly environment to walk, cycle and take public transport. This includes 17 Low Traffic Neighbourhoods covering 60% of the borough. These types of schemes can be controversial and currently have a high profile on social media and national press. Under this huge pressure, Kristina is always professional providing high-level reports and guidance to divisional directors and political leaders including cabinet members and the Mayor of Tower Hamlets.
Her team and project management skills are outstanding and allow for even the complex of schemes to be delivered on time and budget. However, it has not just her latest work which has touched the industry and Kristina is a member of the CIHT London Region and Young Professionals Committees and takes part in meetings and organising social events for the London members.
Whilst Kristina’s work is always impressive, it is her understanding of the industry and willingness to help others in the team and company that continues to make her shine. She is a mentor to other new graduates in Project Centre and consistently helps many of our junior staff.
